From Finance to Free!

During COVID, like most businesses, we had to pivot. Facilities were no longer leasing space to outside organizations, so we took a leap of faith and purchased our own Endless Pool through Ohio Hot Tubs and Sauna in Cleveland, Ohio.

 

We took out an SBA loan to help cover the expense, and we have been making payments on that loan—and even paying more than the minimum due—since 2020. Recently, though, we realized that more of our payments were going toward interest than toward actually paying down the pool.

So, we decided to take another leap of faith and pay our swim spa off and to go from Financed to Free.

Owning the swim spa means more than eliminating a monthly payment. It means turning one of Rhythm & Stroke’s biggest financed assets into a long-term tool for instruction, stability, growth, and community impact.

What ownership means for Rhythm & Stroke

For Rhythm & Stroke, owning the swim spa free and clear means greater financial flexibility. Instead of continuing to send money toward financing, more of the revenue generated through lessons can eventually be reinvested back into the business—equipment, instructor development, maintenance, marketing, expanded programming, and future growth.

It also gives Rhythm & Stroke greater control over a private teaching environment designed especially for children, adults, and fearful beginners.

We financed the water to build the vision. Now we’re working to own the water so we can build what comes next.

What it can mean for Swim Like Me Foundation

For Swim Like Me Foundation, the benefit is greater access to a stable community aquatics resource through its relationship with Rhythm & Stroke. This will allow for more scholarships and programming at no cost or reduced cost.
