Rhythm and Stroke uses The American Red Cross curriculum for Lifeguard Certifications and ReCerts. 
 
Certification: "Provides entry-level participants the knowledge and skills to prevent recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over.Prerequisites: To be eligible for the Lifeguarding course, you must meet the following requirements: Minimum age of 15 years; Ability to swim continuously for 300 yards; Ability to tread water using only the legs for 2 minutes; Completion of a timed event within 1 minute and 40 seconds, which involves starting in the water, swimming 20 yards, performing a surface dive to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object, returning to the surface, swimming 20 yards on your back to return to the starting point, and exiting the water without using steps or a ladder. Upon successful completion of the Lifeguarding course, participants will receive an American Lifeguard certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED, which will be valid for 2 years.
 
Recert: "Our Lifeguard Recertification Course with First Aid and CPR/AED is designed to refresh your skills and knowledge and keep you up-to-date with the latest safety practices. This course is open to all previously certified lifeguards and provides an opportunity to update and renew your certification. Upon completion, you will receive a two-year certification in lifeguarding, CPR/AED, and first aid." ARC

  • COVID-19

    Due to COVID-19 

    Each person must wear a mask at all times while in the facility, except when they are in the water. 

    Due to Capacity issues, Only patrons receiving service will gain entrance into the facility.

    The dressing room has a restroom and a place to change, there is no shower. In the interest of time, please come properly dressed for your session.

  • Thunder and Lightning

    If weather conditions include thunder and lightning, your session will be rescheduled. 

  • Ownership of your Certifications

    If your employer is covering the cost of your certification, your certificate and any other details regarding your certification will be given directly to your employer. Therefore, be sure to review your company's policies and procedures regarding ownership of your certificates. 

    If you are covering the cost of your certification then you will be given the details of your certication,  including your certificate.
